This pair of antique 19th-century French Type 2 cider and perry bottles—known locally as “Bouteille longue” or “long bottles”—comes from the traditional pottery regions of Ger (Manche), Mortainais, or Domfrontais in Brittany. Crafted around the late 1800s, they were handmade using terracotta clay from the Goulande sandstone quarry and shaped on a stick lathe, giving each bottle a primitive charm and rustic character.
Fired in a wood kiln, the bottles display striking orange and red surface blooms—each one a natural product of the firing process. Their understated form and authentic patina make them ideal as bud vases, dinner candle holders, or simply as standalone decorative accents that bring timeless French farmhouse appeal to any interior.
These beautifully aged vessels are a characterful example of rural craftsmanship—perfect for adding authenticity to rustic, country, or bohemian interiors.
