Meet the "Old Timer." This 19th century French confit pot is a true survivor, shaped as much by the sun and the weather as it was by the potter’s hand. If you’re looking for a piece with a soul that you can feel the moment you touch it, this is the one.
A standout in our "Working Stiff" Collection, this pot has moved past the need for perfection. Originally used for preserving food in rural France, it now carries a heavily weathered patina. You can see the soft remnants of the original mustard glaze still clinging to the rim and "ears" (handles), while the terracotta body has been worn down to a tactile, almost stone-like finish. It is earthy, chalky, and beautifully unveiled, a literal record of decades of utility.
With my background insuppling unique props for set dressing (Outlander & pottery Throw Down ), I love pieces that offer a grounded, sculptural presence. This pot doesn't need flowers to look incredible; it’s a standalone statement of texture.
On Open Shelving: Its generous proportions anchor a display.
In a Vignette: Pairs perfectly with weathered wood and dried botanicals.
As a "Survivor": It brings that quiet, poetic character to a home that "new" decor simply cannot replicate.
