A wonderfully tactile, authentic Tamegroute footed serving dish from southern Morocco. With a striking pedestal silhouette and a rare, organic green splatter glaze over a soft cream ground,. This heavy, primitive piece brings immense sculptural presence and artisan character to modern rustic interiors.
THE RUSTIC SHELF
Giving a beautiful future to pieces with a past.
Hand formed by Draa Valley artisans, this broad, shallow bowl sits proudly upon a sturdy pedestal foot, creating a commanding decorative statement. Reflecting its true Berber heritage, the dish features a remarkable glaze work where a delicate green splatter glaze dances across a soft cream ground. Because each piece is traditionally wood fired, the pattern is entirely spontaneous and individual.
One of the most appealing aspects of this heavy vessel is its richly textured surface. During the firing process, salt is introduced into the kiln, reacting with the clay to create a distinctive rough, almost crystalline finish. It is an extraordinary tactile piece that celebrates the unpredictable beauty of ancient potting traditions, looking equally beautiful left empty as a sculptural centrepiece or filled with bright citrus fruit.
